The lovely Honeynut Squash

We recently stumbled on this article about the history of the lovely, recently bred Honeynut squash. We grew this variety for the first time this year and were quite happy with its sweet flavour, although we are finding that all of our squash are sweeter as a result of our new hotter Lillooet climate. As a small-scale intensive vegetable farm, we prioritize specimens with great flavour profiles. The article emphasizes the fact that, "Typically plants are bred for yield rather than flavor, but that changed with the Honeynut." Although we are now sold out for the season, we plan to grow this gem again next year and to continue our search for vegetables with great taste to produce at One Love Farm
